I’ve just watched this marvelous movie, Garden State. Its title maybe sounds weird but it has sense. This is about a guy which is completely lost in his world. He is apathetic towards everything, like a vegetable person (I suppose that “Garden” comes in this sense). One day he goes back to his hometown because his mother has died. At this point, he tries to find a place in this world, to understand himself, to forgive himself. In the middle of all this, Sam (Natalie Portman) appear to help him, to help herself, to walk that path together.
This is a sensitive movie with some oddities. That kind of movies about little things and big feelings. It has a lot of cool music as well (sometimes a bit forced). It’s a mix of Amelie, Isabel Coixet and other sensitive/odd films.
Absolutetly recommended.
